6+ Unique 65% Keyboard Wrist Rests

Posted on November 1, 2022November 17, 2022 By Harry Ligma No Comments on 6+ Unique 65% Keyboard Wrist Rests

I’m sure I’m not alone.

But I have two main keyboards that I switch in and out of.

The main ‘office’ keyboard is the Apple Magic keyboard and then the Halo65 by NuPhy for when it comes to gaming and generally just to mix things up.

I only recently got the NuPhy – matte black – and I am loving it so far, but as I started using it – I was immediately met with an overseen issue:

The wrist rest was huge in comparison.

However, I think. somewhat unique to NuPhy they offer a specific wrist rest that comes with it – that is entirely see-through and definitely worth checking it out – as it gets to work on enhancing the overall RGB effects going on.

Pretty cool.

However, I can definitely see how it is not for everyone – so I did some more digging into other 65% keyboard wrist rests to see what’s out there (obviously not as common given the unique size nature of the keyboard) – and here are some of my favorites.

Table of Contents

    Transparent Wrist Rests

What’s unique about these 65% keyboard wrist rests is that they give the appearance of more space, but they also allow designers to get creative with resins.

So you can have a whole range of different designs that can be featured within the wrist rest – whether it is made of glass or some form of plastic – there are some awesome designs out there.

If you do decide to keep it completely transparent though and your keyboard has some forms of RGB capabilities – then you’re going to get to see it light up as well.

    Wooden Wrist Rests

Personally, I really love the look of wooden keyboard wrist rests. They add a bit of class to the work and gaming space. I think the use of an additional natural texture to the room in contrast to the plastic mechanics.

As well as the natural variations within the different types of wood – can really add to the room overall.

Then as actual wrist rests, they are super comfortable and supportive as well. You will notice the natural slight arc they have to help support your wrist as you go to type.

There’s a lot of different types and styles to choose from as well. From the darker woods to the lighter ones. Then their actual finish as well. Are t

There’s definitely a great range of wooden 65% keyboard wrist rests out there to explore and although I really like the aesthetics of them. I do find sometimes that they just aren’t as good for the endurance of my typing as others such as the memory foam.

    Plastic Add On Wrist Rests

These actually sometimes come as part of the keyboard itself.

They are a basic plastic flap that offers a slope up and onto the keyboard itself – personally I think they look a bit cheap – and that’s because they are.

If you’re just after a wrist rest for the practical nature – then I reckon these are the way to go – but I think wrist wrests are a great desk accessory that you can use to help give your gaming room or office space a bit more character.

    Memory Foam Wrist Rests

I think these – at least for me – are the most practical. They feel the best and I think offer me the most support and can offer the overall endurance that I am after when typing.

The only pullback is that they don’t look quite as aesthetically pleasing as some of your other options such as ‘Wood’, ‘Resin’ and ‘Marble’.

But I think they do the best job.

That said, you can get them wrapped in a Leather and other materials that can offer that more aesthetic look to them – so that’s certainly an option worth exploring as well.

    Marble Quartz Wrist Rests

The Marble Quartz keyboards are a great look.

They add a pop of color that’s not overbearing and if you have gone for a specific color theme in the room – they can really add to that overall look as well.

You can get them in a range of colors and since it is marble they have an additional cooling effect on your wrists, which is good for those who might get sweaty hands whilst typing.

    Leather Wrist Rests

The full on leather wrist rests for 65% keyboards are a great option to consider as well.

As mentioned above, they often have a foam or even a memory foam built within them so you can get a sense of comfort when typing.

The only issue I have with most leathers is that although they feel great – they can make my hands got a bit sweaty – but definitely something to consider if you’re looking for a reliable and durable wrist rest.

What’s the Right Material For You?

There are actually a few different materials to consider when it comes to wrist rests – and I definitely think each have their own advantages over others.

From foam to wooden as well as marble to glass, each come with their own properties. Personally, although I love the aesthetics of the wooden wrist wrests – I find myself swapping it out for the memory foam wrist wrest.

Simply as a matter of comfort, they don’t look as good – but I find that it allows me to type for longer without my wrists starting to ache essentially.

Give it some thought and see what you think thought , I would say that any wrist rest is better than no wrist rest though – and the wooden ones do sleek.

The ones that I would tend to avoid are just the plastic add ons – sure they are likely the cheapest and they do their job but to me they just don’t look all that great and are not inviting.

You want to create an inviting workspace and/or gaming area and as small as a 65% keyboard wrist rest might be – it certainly adds to the room.

What’s the Right 65% Keyboard Wrist Rest Design?

Now you have pretty much nailed down the ‘type’ of wrist rest, you want. You just have to choose one that suits your overall gaming room or workplace design.

If it is wood, do you want to go for a dark Oak or a light Pine wood. If it is Marble, should you go for a White or a Black Onyx?

Then there are of course a bunch of crazy design resins that you can go for as well. When choosing the wrist rest, try to think about your overall theme that you’re creating – this should help gear you in the right direction of what design you want to choose.

If you are unsure, stick to neutrals where you can – adding wood or even just transparent is a great way to achieve just that.
