11 Must-Have Gaming Chair Accessories

Posted on November 1, 2022December 23, 2022 By Harry Ligma No Comments on 11 Must-Have Gaming Chair Accessories

If you’re looking to level up your gaming experience – then getting a dedicated gaming chair is a great start.

To level up further consider investing and investigating into some gaming chair accessories.

Here we are going to explore different specific gaming chair accessories that you can add to make your whole experience either more comfortable or to give you an edge in your gaming performance.

So let’s get right to it.

Table of Contents

    Gaming Chair Mat or Rug

This one doesn’t sound obvious until after you get the gaming chair. What tends to happen is after a while the chair can leave indents in your carpet or can potentially scratch a hard floored surface.

An easy fix is to simply pick up a gaming mat or gaming rug of that will then protect your gaming chair from the floor – there’s plenty of dedicated protectors too that can sit over the casters of gaming chairs as well.

I just think that getting a gaming rug dedicated for your gaming chair can add to the overall design and aesthetics of a gaming room.

    Foot Rest Support

Again, it sounds super simple but just investing in a bit of a foot rest support can really help with the ergonomics of you sitting in a chair.

    Mainly because it prevents slouching.

What tends to happen is that you game for extensive periods and you start to slouch and in turn this is going to lead to back problems both short and long term.

Investing in a foot support can help combat that as it helps to support you sitting up right, plus I think they are generally more comfortable too.

There are alternatives out there as well which are pretty cool such as under desk foot hammocks and the like.

     Lumbar Pillows

Now, you’re probably going to notice someone what of a ruling theme over the next few ideas.

However, a lumbar support that fits into your gaming chair – gives you that added support to your back, especially if you keep catching your self with bad posture.

Where you if you’re like me you are naturally falling into the back of the chair and things start to get increasingly comfortable.

A lumbar pillow is specifically made to ensure that you are getting the support that you need to help keep your back in the proper position and you’re getting the right overall gaming ergonomics.

    Head Rest & Neck Supports

Again, another way to make sure that you are sitting up correctly is to get a head rest – so that you’re not too deep into the gaming chair itself.

If you’re finding that you’re getting pain in your neck whilst gaming – its probably due to it not offering the support it needs – either you’re too far back or too far forward.

Experiment with a head rest as a solution that should sit at the top of the gaming chair – this should improve your overall posture and provide the necessary support for your neck – and give you a point of reference as to where you can rest your actual head as well.

    Arm Rests

If you’re investing in any sort of ‘decen’t gaming chair – this should be already part of th gaming chair as standard.

However, a lot of “gaming” chairs don’t offer them in the way you would expect – this leads you to not really getting the benefit that an arm rest is meant to give you – and that’s support for your arms during and off game play.

Without this, it could be a contributing factor as to why you might be getting wrist pain – so it is certainly something that you should look into.

    Holsters and Holders

There are a lot of gaming accessories out there for gaming chairs that are usually associated with the brand already.

However, some of my favorites include the holsters and holders that tend to be like clip on add ons to the chair.

So you can hold a drink or even a place to keep your gaming controllers or headsets – so that they are right by your side and have a dedicated place to live as well.

They aren’t going to be taking up space on the desk and the gaming chair tends to be the only place that you actually use them anyway – so it makes complete sense.

Just be careful not to knock them into your gaming desk or any other furniture that you might have around.

LED RGB for Your Gaming Chair

Can you ever have too much RGB?

Well, I am sure you have thought about it – but adding LED strips to your gaming chair is a very popular accessory – and you will find that some of them even have it built in already.

There are specialist kits out there that are specifically designed for gaming chairs, so I recommend checking those out – and you just have to be a bit careful of the wiring.

However, this is one of the ‘go to’ accessories to add to any gaming chair. I’ve got a guide on adding it to your desk here – but you can just apply the same principles to your gaming chair.

    Seat Covers

You will often find a lot of seat covers as a means of not just protection – in case you accidentally spilled a drink over the seat.

Or you’re just looking to keep it protected in general – but you will find that they often can come with a lot of funky gaming designs too.

Whether that’s of a certain game itself or just decals that can add to the overall experience of a gaming room.

You’ve just got to make sure that the gaming seat cover itself is actually compatible with your own gaming chair – otherwise it might not actually fit.

    Seat Pillow or Cushion

Whether you’re looking for a more comfortable seating arrangement or a bit more height relative to the gaming chair.

There are plenty of options when it comes to seat cushions for gaming chairs.

A lot of the main ones tend to advocate for a memory foam structure – that makes the chair more comfortable as it adapts to you – and in turn should allow you to avoid getting a numb or aching bum after a prolonged session.

Usually, the reason you get those pains is that the seat itself is applying a specific pressure to an area of your buttocks – these cushions are designed to help rectify that.

    Change Up the Casters

An often overlooked aspect where you can add and upgrade to your already existing gaming chair is to change the casters. In many gaming chairs, the casters themselves are often a bit of an afterthought.

They don’t tend to be of the highest quality and are pretty standard.

So if you do a bit of investigating you should be able to come across some pretty high-quality ones – that are smoother and cause less damage to your flooring.

Plus, they can actually look great too – available in a range of colors that can definitely help to ‘add’ to the overall aesthetics of a gaming room.

    Keyboard Trays

Although not technically part of the gaming chair itself – getting a keyboard tray, may allow you to position yourself more comfortably as you can literally adjust the keyboard to where you want it.

So you can then get in a comfortable position and have the keyboard positioned right over your chair if you wanted – or at least situated much closer than you would have otherwise – so this is great, if you feel that it’s a little too far away from you.

Better still, if you just want to created a bit more additional space between you and the computer screen itself. Plus a lot of them are adjustable, so if you needed to type on a angle for whatever reason – it should allow for this.

    Here’s What I Would Get

The only real main accessories that I think I got and are really worth it are – the support and comfort ones.

So I’ve personally got a foot rest, lumbar pillow as well as a head rest for the gaming chair – mainly cause my posture isn’t great.

I naturally slump – although I am trying to get better.

But having all three of those really help me to get a better and more comfortable environment when I am going about gaming or even just doing some general office work.

I can see myself potentially getting some memory foam arm rests – but the rest of the suggestions are mainly for aesthetics – that said I do think – when done correctly, they look great. An LED gaming chair? Pretty cool!
