25+ Ultra Cool Gaming Desk Accessories

Posted on November 25, 2022December 6, 2022 By Harry Ligma No Comments on 25+ Ultra Cool Gaming Desk Accessories

Gaming desks serve a functional purpose to house your essential equipment such as monitors, consoles, PCs and peripherals. They are often relatively basic in their design, offering a largely blank canvas for gamers to fill as they please. While the essential items are obvious, you may be wondering how to spruce up your gaming desk with some additional accessories.

These gaming desk accessories may serve a functional purpose or be purely for aesthetic appeal. It can be a daunting task to personalize your gaming desk to your tastes, with many different options available online. Whether you are a PC or console gamer, we will be breaking down some ideas for gaming desk accessories below.

Table of Contents

    Monitor Shelving

One of my favorite gaming desk accessories is to put in a monitor shelf as it creates a sense of ‘layering’ to your battlestaton gaming set up – as well as creates more space.

Plus, by elevating the monitor – it might cause your to sit up a bit straighter in your gaming chair too which is good for posture. More so, it gives you a great excuse to stick some RGB in there – just as this good fellow above has done.

    Keyboard Wrist Rest

Of course you don’t need me to delve into the benefits of investing a keyboard wrist rest – other than the obvious benefits of wrist support that can help you with endurance gaming.

But they look pretty great as well, especially if you get the more unique ones. I definitely recommend investing in a keyboard wrist rest that matches the size of your keyboard to have it line up. So if you have a 65% keyboard get a wrist rest to match – rather than it being too short or too long.

    Plants

Not sure if you can strictly call this a desk accessory per se – but I think always think plants are such an understated piece. They are a great way to bring harmony to a workspace and give it literally some ‘life’. I think they are particularly ideal for those who use their gaming space as their work space as well.

They don’t’ even have to be that large as well – you can see from the above too – that you can have quite a nice little plant to really make a difference overall as well.

    Bladeless Fan + Heater

I don’t know about you – but one thing that impacts me while gaming is either being too hot or too cold. A heater x fan can solve for just that. Dyson for instance has the Hot + Cold fan heater that can basically cater to your needs when you want to cool down or when you get warm.

Plus, they look pretty great as well in an everyday set up – and I can tell you they look great when it comes to RGB as well – as the light pings of the shiny surface creating a pretty cool aesthetic to the room.

    Headset Stand

Most gamers will own a gaming headset to communicate with their friends or opponents in online multiplayer games. Perhaps you even dabble in streaming and content creation and use a gaming headset instead of a more expensive, dedicated microphone. Whatever the case, these gaming headsets can be rather bulky and if they are wired, the cables can look messy if you are simply setting the headset down on your desk.

That is where a headset stand comes in. A headset stand will offer an upright hook to hand your headset on and the Corsair RGB headset stand is the best execution of this. With a sleek back design, RGB lighting on the base and a USB port to charge your headset.

    Coffee Mug Warmer

Yeah these are legit and surprisingly they do work. If you are a huge coffee fan like me – who loves a mug of coffee as they go about gaming. Then these are something that you definitely want to take a look at.

There’s nothing worse than when you get in the zone with a game then suddenly forget all about that coffee you were sipping on that had turned cold. Well worry no more, a mug warmer is exactly what you need.

    USB Hub

Many devices are charged or powered by USB connections and with so many devices that need to be considered, you can easily run out of ports. This is where a USB hub comes in handy, since it provides extra ports for all of your devices.

Anker provides a great option that is relatively low cost at $17.99. It features four USB 3.0 ports with a 2 ft extended cable to allow flexible placement in your gaming desk set up. With a damage resistance cable, a slim form factor and a subtle black coloring, the Anker 4-Port USB hub is a great solution.

    Controller Holder

Similarly to headsets, setting down controllers directly onto your desk can look a bit messy and create clutter on the surface. If you have a controller holder, you can keep your controller out of the way and there are some interesting novel options such as the Cable version pictured above.

There are options for other characters from your favorite video game characters too, which can help make your gaming desk more visually appealing as well as functional.

    Controller Charging Station

On the subject of controllers, many of the most popular ones today are wireless and will require charging at relatively regular intervals. This can become tedious and interrupt play sessions on your favorite games. It can also lead to unsightly cable connections and create a mess on your gaming desk.

With a wireless controller charging station, you can passively charge multiple controller when you are not playing and many of them will offer RGB lighting and a good way to keep your desk clear of clutter.

    Gaming Mice

A crucial gaming desk accessory for any gamer – is a dedicated gamer mouse. Now what type you get depends very much on the types of games you are playing. For me I love the MMO style gaming mice, where you have a number pad on the side that you can assign different tasks too (they come in super useful for general productivity as well).

They often come up with RGB as well so you can set it to whatever style you want – personally I set mine just to just match the overall gaming room color theme I have decided to go with (this is all tied in with iCue).

    Desk Lamps

We have already covered a few ideas that involve RGB lighting but if you want something that provides more illumination, a desk lamp is a great addition to your gaming desk.

There are multiple options that are gaming themed, such as these individual tetris blocks to honor one of the best selling video games of all time. You can mix and match the pattern of them to your liking and they come in a range of different colors much like the classic block stacking retro game.

    Desk Organizer

I think any sort of desk organiser is a must, especially if you are prone to gathering just stuff. And there’s no better brand that I can think of – than Ugmonk. They have some really cool valet trays and docking stations that neatly stack your bits and bobs away.

Plus, they create a really cool aesthetic for the overall room as well. Definitely recommended for those who want to maintain a work-type vibe as well workspace going on for their gaming area. Check out the “gather” above to get more of an idea.

    Stream Deck

For those of you who are current or aspiring video game streamers, it can be difficult to manage all of your software and settings while live to viewers.

This is where the Elgato Stream deck comes in, as a smart panel with 15 customizable LCD keys that allow you to control your streams and systems on the fly. It comes with a dedicated piece of software to customize the functionality and visual icon on the buttons.

We have actually taken look at a few comparisons of different ones already check out the Stream Deck Vs MK2 and the Stream Deck Vs Plus version.

    LED Monitor Light Bar

Monitor light bars are exactly that – a mini light that hangs over the monitor. These are actually a lot more useful than they might first look. As at first, it is not always the opportunity to switch on the main light – but you want to be able to see what you’re doing this.

This is exactly where they come in. Plus, they can create a pretty inviting area for you to come game and see what you’re actually doing. There are some that can be changed for RGB purposes as well which makes them one of the more useful and gaming desk accessories.

    Gaming Surface and Mats

Particularly for PC gamers, a good mouse mat will be a necessary addition to your gaming desk to ensure smooth mouse control, surface protection and sensor detection.

While there are many basic mouse mats available, SteelSeries offer an oversized option that also adds some visual flair to your gaming desk. The SteelSeries QCK Prism Cloth is available in a range of sizes to accommodate multiple peripherals while also delivering customizable RGB edge lighting.

    Gaming Figures

What better way to spice up your gaming desk than to show appreciation to your favorite video game characters in figure form? There are many options out there for video game action figures or statues from all of your favorite games.

    Cable Management Box

Cable management can be one of the most fiddly, tedious tasks in the set up of your gaming desk. With many devices connected with cables, it is essential to organize them well to keep your desk looking tidy and reduce the risk of electrical injuries.

A cable management box can be a great solution since it can keep things neat and tidy and allow you to switch out device connections easily.

    Phone Stand

I think one of the best gaming desk accessories that you can invest in – which is relatively cheap – is to get a phone stand. Literally a stand that you can prop your phone on. There’s something about it that creates a sense of organisation to it – rather than it just being laid on your desk.

Plus, if you don’t want it sitting in your pocket due to the nature of how you sit that makes it uncomfortable – having a way of quickly glancing at it – as and when you need it actually becomes pretty handy.

You will find most come with sort of charging capability as well – whether that’s the docking aspect itself, or at least a lead that you can nearly thread through to charge the phone.

    High-Definition Web Cam

If you plan on streaming or just interacting with you friends when you’re gaming – then investing in a top set up gaming style webcam is a must. We recently broke down the different between the Facecam and Facecam Pro from Elgato and those are truly standout webcams.

A little bit on the pricey side but those who are looking to really create an awesome streaming experience for their viewers – this is something that they are going to have to really get onboard with. The quality of picture is incredibly good – especially when you combine that with the customisability of what they can offer.

Then if you combine that with the Stream Deck you have got a nice little set up on your hands all of a sudden.

    RGB LED Lighting Strip

I feel like for any gaming desk this is pretty much the #1 accessory that you have to get.

There is no excuse really, as it is so easy to fit and they aren’t even that expensive these days. We literally have produced a post on how to fit the LED lighting strip to a standard desk as well.

Then through all the different gaming room colors shown you how it can really make a difference to a room. What I like to advocate though is producing the LED strip on levels.

So we can see here that the LED strip runs along the back of the desk – but you can also LEDs are coming off the back of the monitor too. This is something well worth doing – I’d have like to seen some on the speakers as well.

    Essential Oil Diffusers

I am actually always surprised why essential oil diffusers are not way more popular with gamers. They have the aesthetics of the lighting plus they give that cool aesthetic feel with the watery mist that they produce – that gives a really relaxing feel.

Plus, you can infuse them with your favorite scent to get the room smelling nice and can create a really great overall atmosphere – and they really aren’t that expensive at all.

    Smart Assistant Pod

Whether you prefer Google Home, Amazon’s Alexa or even Apple’s HomePod – investing in one of these smart assistants is particularly useful as a desk aid.

I am sure you don’t need us to list out all the different tasks that you can do – but when your hands are occupied – gaming hopefully, it’s rather useful to have something on standby that you can activate wih your voice.

Whether it is to turn music up, remind you to do something later, answer the door to the delivery with a smart Ring doorbell and more. Personally, I would go with whatever one you’re most comfortable with.

    Gaming Speakers

While many gaming monitors come with speakers built-in, the quality is often not very good. To level up your gaming experience, a set of gaming speakers are a great addition to your gaming desk. They vary massively in features, pricing and size but these Razer Nommo Chroma speakers provide a unique design, great sound quality and additional RGB lighting.

    High Quality Microphone

One of the most over looked accessories is a high quality microhpone. Whether you’re streaming or even just talking with friends, getting a top tier microphone improves the whole experience.

Plus, there is something just about the aesthetics of a good microphone that I really like as well – it definitely ‘adds’ to the area. I recommend opting for something like the Elgato Wave 1 or 3 to give you that clean crisp audio edge.

    Ergonomic Wrist Rests

I highly recommend look at getting a decent wrist rest not just for your mouse but your keyboard as well. Especially, if you are going to be doing enduring hardcore gaming.

They will basically help you to relieve discomfort and allow you to game longer. They act as a form of support and will help to reduce the strain that you are placing on your tendons and muscles.

Plus they can actually help to prevent certain issues from occurring such as repetitive strain injuries – that said it is definitely worth doing your research here as they can actually end up causing more issues than they are solving if used in correctively.

Not only do a lot f them provide support but they can also benefit you from just sheer comfort and in turn you might feel like you an get a higher gaming performance as a result.

    Monitor Stands

I am actually a massive fan of monitor arms. It’s not obvious at first but they actually create a tonne more space your desk – as your monitor isn’t having to be supported by the stand that sits at your desk.

Instead you have the monitor arm itself take the brunt of the weight which in turn frees up the essential undersurface of the monitor and you can then push it back as well.

Which is what creates the effect and have the room at the back. I think they are essentially no matter what your monitor size is to create that look – plus they often come with handy cable management accessories as well for your monitor to clean up the entire space.

    Tablet

Although personally it is not for me – I do see a lot of tablets – typically iPads featuring on desk accessories. They are of course good for quick off the cuff tasks that don’t require your main computer and usually are great for getting things done in and around the house (turning off lights, setting reminders and so on).

Getting a dedicated stand and having the keyboard being able to sync with them is a plus too. I think if they aren’t too in the way – then they can work great.

Our Thoughts on Gaming Desk Accessories

When it comes to gaming desk accessories I think it is really important not to get too cluttered. I am one for minimalism anyway, however, I think you can definitely go overboard with too much stuff.

So be careful on the accessories that you choose – be picky – and ask yourself will you really use it. Then if you do get it, can it be stored in a clever space on your desk (or even under) so that it doesn’t take up room but it is immediately accessible to you.

Ultimately, what gaming desk accessories you get is very personal to your unique gaming experience and overall use of the space. If you have any other accessories for your gaming desk that you think we should’ve mentioned – then please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in the comments section below – we would sure love to hear your recommendations.
