14 Sweet Gaming Room Storage Ideas

Posted on October 31, 2022December 15, 2022 By Harry Ligma No Comments on 14 Sweet Gaming Room Storage Ideas

Is your gaming room getting a bit cluttered?

You’re not the only one.

Especially, when you consider the number of accessories that inevitably end up in a small gaming rooms – without proper storage solutions – it can inevitably end up feeling a bit cluttered.

So here we have come up with a range of gaming room storage ideas.

Think about gaming shelves, storage units as well as hidden storage such as under-desk baskets and over-the-door hangers. Design your gaming room and review a series of storage ideas and implement your gaming room around them.

Here we are going to break down 10+ of our favorite ideas when it comes to gaming room storage.

Table of Contents

    Gaming Desk with Storage

I think one of the best solutions to any gaming room is just to invest in a gaming desk that actually integrates a range of different storage solutions itself. Whether that is drawers or cabinets or even an integrated tiered system that you can have additional gaming accessories hidden away with.

You might want to us some sort of foam inserts in the gaming drawers, just to protect your equipment from getting scratched or scuffed, plus it gives you a form of keeping everything tidy.

Working out the best type of desk for your set up – is a crucial element to setting up any gaming room – and there’s quite a lot of different choices out there. Whether you want a small gaming desk or whether you’re looking for a corner one (L Shaped) – you might even want to build your own gaming desk.

    Under Desk Storage

I think this is one of the best ideas when it comes to creating more room in any home office or gaming room without even being a visual eye sore.

There are a range of under desk baskets that you can get that get fit a whole range of gaming accessories. I’ve got one that situated towards the back of the desk and that’s where it holds my Xbox One controllers that I link to my PC.

It keeps them out the way, but most importantly it also gives them a dedicated living space and saves them from getting in the way – when it comes to ‘office’ mode and removes the temptation to want to game randomly during the day (especially in work time!).

A more common idea you see is having hangers off the under side of your gaming desk, you can see above, for example, they have their headphones based off a hanger so that has a living space too. I say why not go for both.

    Peg Boards

I’m also a huge advocate of peg boards for a few of reasons (so this easily makes it to the top of my list as being #1 for the list of gaming room storage ideas).

Firstly, they make storage space of often awkward areas where you wouldn’t really have been able to put any other storage system in place without it being a bit awkward.

Secondly, they are super versatile, you can literally hang up anything there and it will be ideal. For example, you can see they both have their headphones as well as a indoor plant based on the pegboard.

If that was a shelf then sure you might see some of the plants but the headphones aren’t getting properly stored in the same way. The pegboard offers easy access too

Finally, I think this might be a bit more of subjective – but I think it just looks great – minimalistic and sleek and you can customize it to how you want it as well.

    Shelving

Sounds pretty obvious but putting in some well placed shelving can really help to create more space within a room and there’s a whole range of different styles that you can incorporate into the room.

Whether it is floating shelves or you have an industrial edge to your gaming room there’s a range of shelving ideas that speak to that as well.

I would just make sure that they are easily accessible and that they add to the overall aesthetics to the room. Whether you want to store your gaming accessories, gloves or wrist braces – and by doing so, you’re giving them a dedicated place to live – and will avoid ‘losing’ them or at least misplacing them.

One idea that I really like to see is when people add LED strips to the shelving to really help them pop out. It really feels like it adds to the gaming experience rather than takes something away.

    Glass Door Cabinets

Not only can they look really sleek but glass door cabinets give you the means to actually showcase gaming figures and other quirky aspects that you want to use to decorate the room – so they are in view – but not adding to the clutter.

Plus, with the glass it helps to reflect any RGB that you might have going on in the gaming room which helps to create a great atmosphere when gaming.

Whether you have them fitted to a wall or even just standing, they are a great addition to add a premium overall level to the room. You see a lot of gaming rooms have them to showcase their different gaming accessories such as keyboards.

    Drawer Unit on Castors

Why I think getting a drawer units – specifically on castors – is a great investment is that it is flexible. If you want it close to you for whatever reason, such as you have your laptop on there and just want a quick way to scan something – you can pull it up alongside you.

If you want it just as an extra storage unit, it can serve that as well – it can help for the little things that you don’t want close to you all the time but – just sometimes, it’s pretty helpful.

There’s a range of drawer units that look great as well – and can help modernise and fit in with the overall gaming room aesthetics too.

    Book Cases

Book cases and general wall storage units are incredibly popular with gaming rooms – mainly because it offers a lot of storage but because they are in compartments, you can group a lot of it together into different sections.

Plus, as they tend to be open it provides for an awesome visual appeal as well – nothing quite beats a wall full of games, comics and the like.

So getting a full wall compartment storage solutions is definitely something worth considering – then if you add LED lighting to this as well – it will look epic.

    Storage Stand Tower

If you don’t have shelves or bookcases and the likes to hand, picking up some sort of vertical stand tower to manage all your gaming discs is a great idea – and then you can organize them how you like as well.

This will likely eventually be phased out given that most games are heading to the cloud or on your console or computer itself but it is still valid for a lot of gaming consoles.

For instance, there is a really cleaning looking one by Skywin for the Nintendo Swtich that has a disc rack and organizes all your games with drawers.

    Wall Hangers & Display Stands

There are a whole range of different quirky wall hangers that you can get but similar to the pegboard idea above – and to extent shelving – they create storage pretty much out of no where.

The advantage of wall hangers though is that they can show off whatever you’re hanging on them better. Whether it is a pair of headphones, gaming controllers or any pair of accessories really.

I think these generally work best, when whatever it is that you’re holding up on the wall actually looks good – for example if it is a specially designed Scuff gaming controller for example rather than a towel.

Plus, you need easy accessibility – so you’re regularly getting it off the wall and using it – and then a dedicated space to put it back.

    Over Door Pockets

Another somewhat hidden area of storage is the back of doors. You will most likely have seen them before – but you can get over door storage that come with an array of pockets in them so you can house a lot of different items.

What I think it works perfectly for is ‘cables’. If you have a large number of different cables, hiding them in the overdoor storage rather than in a big box – allows you to quickly workout what cable is meant for what – rather than seeing it all tangled together in a big mess.

They can look pretty neat as well, you can get them loosely hanging or being rather tight to the door and therefore feeling a bit more secure, which is what I think is the way forward.

    Furniture Storage

Basically, this is making use of furniture that also doubles up as storage as well. Whether that’s a couch that also has underneaths storage so you can put some of your gaming equipment in there.

It could be an Ottoman that has some storage capabilities but somewhere you can also sit as well. There are a whole range of different furniture options out there that can fit in your room but also offer you some hidden storage space too.

    Entertainment Center

Here the “entertainment centre” is the furniture that sits under the TV – this is ideal for gaming rooms that don’t have a PC rig – and is more set up for console gaming. You can see it stores different gaming consoles, games and other gaming accessories that he uses.

Plus, what a great gaming storage cabinet that is on the left with a range of different gaming figurines and memorabilia – and even dedicated mannequins at the back. Perfect.

    Ceiling Hammocks

For a more playful gaming room, you can make use of the ceiling as well – it works better with low ceilings – as then you can actually reach the hammock quite easily.

However, you can hang up hammocks for some additional storage as well. Some use them for gaming pillows – if you want to give you some support with your back or to rest your head whilst gaming.

However, I mainly see them being filled with plushies from various different games – you tend to see a lot of Pikachu’s and the like.

Technically, they are storage but really it is more a decoration type piece for the gaming room I think – but they do look great to be fair.

    Gaming Chair Accessories

You can also get additional storage by actually making more use of your gaming chairs as well. You can get a range of accessories that are attached to your gaming chairs such as clip-on mug storage, overside caddies, and more.

You can make additional room from furniture that you already have with a range of different accessories – as we touched on – you can use gaming desks in very much the same way as well.

    Our Thoughts

Investing in storage is a super necessary step to take when making your gaming room your own – it hides away the excess cables and general ‘tat’ that accumulates over time.

It can really make the difference between an inviting area to game and chill to relax it out – or somewhere almost stressful due to the amount of clutter that’s gathered.

Use some of the gaming room storage ideas above, and if you have any other ideas be sure to leave them down in the comments section – I’m always looking for new clever ways to hide my stuff that’s still super practical.
