17+ Minimalist Gaming Set Ups

Posted on December 14, 2022January 29, 2023 By Harry Ligma No Comments on 17+ Minimalist Gaming Set Ups

I consider myself a striving minimalist.

I really appreciate the aesthetics of minimalism – I personally struggle with the execution of them.

So here I have rounded up some inspirations 10+ minimalist gaming setups that you can be inspired by and try to incorporate into your very own setup. So let’s get to it.

Table of Contents

What makes a minimalistic gaming room so appealing is that they it has the gaming office vibe. You can flip it to whatever you need in that moment. Being minimalistic, means there is less to change.

That’s why lighting has such an important part to play. Switch over the RGBs for gaming turning them ot warm white for work. All about the kelvins.

    Matted Minimalist Gaming Room

    I love this set up.

It has the clear minimalist look in a dark monotone aspect that uses green to help create some contrast.

Use of a Black table helps to hide dark accessories and allows the RGB to pop out even more so. And the Green wallpaper and keyboard as well as the plant.

This is what happens when you choose the right color for your gaming room and combine it with some foreplanning on what accessories you think you’re going to use.

    Dual Monitor Minimalist Desk Setup

Chances are if you’re creating a gaming set up you’re either going to get an ultrawide monitor or you’re going to have multiple monitors. First, you need to make sure you get the desk to support two monitors but I also recommend getting tight with your cable management.

We can see the wires from the keyboard and gaming mouse above but other than that – that’s a pretty clean setup and is pretty minimalist compared to most gaming setups.

    Elevated Shelved Monitors

For a minimalist gaming set up having a tiered gaming desk helps to not only allow you to face the monitor properly but it is neat for storing desk accessories under as well.

Here we can see a few accessories kicking about, once your done with them – you can move them all under the shelving unit where the monitor sits to create that complete minimalist look. Plus, you can get everything out as and when you need it.

    Wooden Minimalist Gaming Setup

Notice that with this minimalist gaming setup it is pretty much down to the very bare essentials yet still has a bit of character about it overall.

    • Gaming monitor
    • Mouse
    • Keyboard
    • Desk Mat
    • Gaming Chair
    • Speakers

The reason why is that he makes use of wood – you can see the continued aspect of this from the desk into the speakers. Plus, even through it has gaming vibes – having a plant in there too is a really nice touch to it overall.

    Dark Mode Gaming Room

I think lighting has a huge part to play whether that’s using it (or in this case not). A clever lighting idea here can be found by using a monitor light bar. What’s great about this of course from a minimalist perspective is that there is no table desk lamp taking up space.

Plus, it pretty much just blends into the monitor. It’s actually even barely noticeable until you read this and then take a look up to double check. That’s a great sign of a minimalist piece.

    RGB in a Minimalist Setup

What’s great about minimalist setups is that it only takes a bit of ‘mood’ RGB lighting to turn it from workstation into a gaming battle station.

The lighting here comes from above, so it is likely use fo a Philips Hue light to get that overall look. Notice how the desk is kept relatively clear of clutter, all they have is the keyboard mouse and quick access to their phone via the phone stand.

    Sleek Gaming Desk

A key component of any great gaming setup is a good quality desk. Many gaming desks come with lots of bells and whistles, with eSports style detailing and lots of desk accessories. This is where the Secretlab Magnus comes in.

With a sleek, black, simplistic design, the Secretlab is perfect for a minimalist gaming setup, with some great features packed in. At the back of the desk top surface, there is a notch along the extent of the unit which features a customizable RGB lighting strip that can be turned on and off.

This gives you that gamer style lighting option if you want it, but if you do want a truly minimalist set up you can opt to turn this off. Four simple, strong metal legs hold up the frame, leaving lots of space under the unit.

Under the desk, there is a cable management tray to keep your minimalist gaming setup truly clutter free. The desk can be fitted with a range of magnetic accessories such as cable anchors, oversized mouse pads, monitor arms and headset hooks.

    Gaming Mice

Similarly to gaming desks, gaming mice can get very elaborate with bulky, futuristic designs but the Razer Viper V2 Pro is a minimalist’s dream. The mouse features a sleek black casing with an ultra-lightweight design. It also has a clean, symmetrical and ambidextrous aesthetic, meaning it can be used comfortably in both hands. The best part for a minimalist gaming setup however is the wireless nature of the mouse, with up to 80 hours of battery life. With no unsightly cable, your desk will look amazing with this fantastic gaming mouse.

    Gaming Monitor Minimalist Set Up

To display your favorite games, media and applications, you will need a great gaming monitor. There are many available on the market at a wide range of price ranges and resolutions but the Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED gaming monitor is an incredible option. Featuring a minimalist design with a tiny bezel, this monitor offers 4K OLED visuals in a stunning curved screen. With an infinite contrast ratio, HDR and a quick release monitor stand, you absolutely cannot go wrong here.

    Headset Hook

Gaming headsets can be big and bulky and storing them directly on your gaming desk can look clumsy. This can totally ruin the minimalist gaming setup approach, so why not grab yourself a headset hook to keep your headset out of the way? There are many available options for you to hang your headset directly onto your gaming desk, wall or chair to ensure a clutter-free gaming setup.

    Wireless Gaming Headset

Speaking of headsets, this is also something that will be essential for a complete gaming setup. Lots of headsets also feature flashy, bulky designs so the Razer Blackshark V2 Pro is a perfect solution. Pairing incredibly well with the mouse suggested earlier, this headset features a clean black design with wireless connectivity to remove unwanted cables. It doesn’t just look great either, since the headset features titanium 50mm drivers, a hyperclear microphone, passive noise cancellation and memory foam ear cushions.

    Cable Management Box

We already mentioned that the Secretlab Magnus gaming desk comes with cable management options but if you have a different gaming desk or opt for another option, you can purchase a cable management box to store unsightly cabling to keep your gaming setup truly minimalist.

    Secretlab TITAN Evo Gaming Chair

Now that you’ve got your desk and most of your equipment, you will need something to sit on. The Secretlab TITAN Evo is a great choice for minimalists, since the simple but effective black design is truly stunning. The chair is finished in a premium hybrid leatherette material, with an ergonomic lumbar system and an innovative magnetic head pillow. It is truly adjustable too, with recline, tilt, 4D armrests and adaptable height.

    Wall-Mounted Monitor

We have already suggested an option to remove cables, so why not go a step further and remove your monitor stand completely? By mounting your monitor to the wall, you will afford yourself some extra desktop space and create a visually minimal layout. There are many wall mounting brackets and braces out there but look for something that gives you some flexibility in your monitor’s positioning.

    Wooden Hints Minimalist Set Up

Although some gaming monitors come with speakers built in, they are often not very high quality. Speakers can be bulky and add additional cabling to a gaming setup, which is why the Logitech Z407 wireless speakers are the perfect solution for a minimalist gaming setup.

The dual speakers have a no-frills design and look great when positioned both vertically and horizontally.

The Z407’s even feature a wireless control dial, which means you can keep a completely cable free setup. With great sound quality and a straightforward aesthetic, these are the perfect speakers for your minimalist gaming setup.

    Gaming Office Vibes

What I like about the above set up is that it incorporates a bit of the classic office look as well as gaming elements.

Probably a super common set up.

When I first started my gaming room, it very much had this sort of vibe.

A clean set up with the gaming elements such as the Corsair Keyboard, mouse and gaming rig.

But still had the pine style desk and minimalist style. The only issue is that it is not in either camp – and hence can look a bit bare.

I do really dig the plant inclusion in the overall set up however.

Our Thoughts on Minimalistic Gaming Setups

Gaming is enjoyed by hundreds of millions of players around the world, requiring quite a bit of specialized equipment to facilitate. This equipment includes monitors, mice, keyboards, desks, chairs, headsets and more.

All of this equipment combined with the very flashy designs they often employ can result in a set up that is a minimalists worst nightmare. That being said, there are ways that you can create a gaming setup that keeps things clutter free, stylish and understated. Without further ado, here are some ideas for how you can create the ultimate minimalist gaming set up.

No matter which options you go with, the key to a great minimalist gaming setup is to remove any unnecessary or unsightly clutter. Through wireless products, cable management and sleek designs, you can easily create a clean and simplistic layout that is a joy to play games with.
